One World Trade Center

Standing as a beacon of resilience, One World Trade Center was constructed on the site of the original World Trade Center complex following the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Designed by architect David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the project broke ground in April 2006. The design process was a complex balance of aesthetic vision, high-level security requirements, and the need to honor the memory of the site while looking toward the future. The building's structural completion was marked by a significant milestone in May 2013 when the final section of its spire was installed. This brought the total height of the skyscraper to a symbolic 1,776 feet, directly referencing the year of the United States Declaration of Independence. This height officially established it as the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, reclaiming the skyline for the city of New York. Since opening its doors to tenants in November 2014, One World Trade Center has become a global icon of architectural innovation and urban renewal. The tower features a unique crystalline form with eight isosceles triangles that create a perfect octagon at its center. Beyond its office spaces, the building serves as a hub for media and communications, while the One World Observatory provides millions of visitors annually with unparalleled views of the tri-state area.
